Lemonade Diet Recipe – The Lemon Detox

For most people the humble lemon is something that’s only used squeezed over fish or maybe in a hot drink when we have a head cold. However there is a whole lot more to this little yellow citrus fruit than that.

The humble lemon really has many amazing health giving properties and will help to improve your health if used regularly. Some of lemon’s properties include the ability to help alkalize the body (although lemon is acidic it has an alkalizing effect once in the body), improving digestion and assisting kidney function. Lemon may also help to protect against illnesses such as arthritis, heart disease and cancer.

The lemon contains plenty of vitamin C which is essential for good health and it also is said to cool the body having been used at times when quinine wasn’t available to cool fevers.

One of the common ways lemon is used as a health tonic is as lemon water. All that’s involved is adding sliced lemon to a glass or jug of water and then drinking throughout the day. This in itself can have very good effects on health, skin, and digestion so it is no wonder that the Lemon Detox has become such a big thing!

The Lemonade Diet Recipe is simple to follow and prepare and is a great body cleansing detox. There is no need to spend the $80 or more that pharmacies and health shops are charging for the lemon detox packs that are being sold – they contain a book with instructions and the ingredients for the drink (except the lemons and water) along with some herbal laxative tea which is pretty easy to come by and inexpensive – if you want to go that far. I think it really works out to be a pretty expensive version of the same lemonade diet recipe that we have here.

Lemonade Diet Recipe:

  • Take a glass or container and pour 5 ounces of filtered water into it.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice to the water
  • Then add 2 tablespoons of organic maple syrup
  • Then add 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper.
  • Add another 3 ounces of filtered water and stir well

This makes one serving of the lemon detox drink. A dieter is supposed to drink 6 to 12 servings in a day. This can be made in the morning and refrigerated for use throughout the day but don’t store it for more than one day. The idea is to consume it fresh.

Sounds pretty easy? It is – the hard part is sticking to it! How long you do it for is up to you. Some people might do a day or two – others a week or more.

Tips:

  • Make sure you use organic maple syrup – not the cheap stuff from the supermarket -it’s made from sugar and coloring with maple syrup flavoring.
  • Always use fresh lemon juice. the bottled stuff is not the same – even if it only says lemon juice on the ingredient list it’s not only lemon juice or if it was it would at least be pasteurized and won’t have the same health giving effects.
